There are those that firmly hold that: "If something was enacted under Pope Pius XII, a true pope, then it is good, and should always continue to be acceptable, until a future true pope reverses it."
If this is you, please discuss your position in another thread (which may, or may not, already exist).

You may notice in the graph of "the liturgical movement" that there is an interruption in the upward trend from about 1933 to 1936. Apparently, something big occurred in those few years that slowed the increasing trend in publications containing that phrase. It appears to be the "Great Depression". I will probably add that to the graph.
Incidentally, you will see a sudden downturn in publications mentioning the subject of "the liturgical movement" around 1959. Coincidentally, that is when John XXIII announced (in January 1959) the Council slated for 1962. Apparently, that is when the writers for the movement got the message that their desires were going to be fulfilled, and could relax about writing on the subject so much. That probably should be noted on the graph also.

When viewing ANY google NGRAMS data of your search string, be aware that the mention of it in publications may be FOR the subject, or AGAINST it, or BOTH.
We can assume that the data concerning "the liturgical movement" (before about 1970) was mainly FOR it. Then the controversies began when the liturgies were altered. From there the data would be expected to be mostly mentioned AGAINST it seeing that the data decline after the death of Pius XII plummeted since the interested parties knew they were getting their way.
Considering this, I think the graph should simply be cut off loosely at about 1985 since after 1970 is was meandering data both for and against the subject.

I need to re-upload the graphical chart. The reference on Twitter is no longer valid!
UPDATED the graph in the initial post. Click on the thumbnail to view it full size.
